Episode 6
Pramashree Karki on women's roles in Nepali society
Today, we are talking with Pramashree Karki from Burns Violence Survivors Nepal, a small grassroots organisation working on the treatment and rehabilitation of burns survivors, as well as the prevention and advocacy needs of victims of burns and acid attacks. This is an untold story because it delves into so many different, complex areas of Nepali society - from the role of women, to the challenges of childcare whilst needing to work, to the reasons use of acid in domestic attacks, to the level of education on burns prevention. It’s not an easy reality to face, nor story to tell.
Pramashree led a phenomenal session with our runners in 2019 and has a brilliant way of taking what appears to be a micro discussion and placing it within the macro picture. I figured that ability to mix the untold story within the context of a big picture fitted exactly what this show is all about so I hope you take as much from this discussion as I did!
